Round shields,  12mm thick plywood, canvas faced with a steel, leather bound  grip on the reverse and a centre boss.  Good, solid, buffalo rawhide edging . NOT cheap dog chew!    Stepped handle can be provided.

Strap in 2 parts with buckle, add £ 10.00.

Norman “Teardrop” kite shields,  12mm thick plywood, canvas faced with a small boss.  Good, solid, buffalo rawhide edging . NOT cheap dog chew!   Pad and straps with buckles on back.

Strap in 2 parts with buckle, add £ 10.00.

Later period kite shields,  12mm thick plywood, canvas faced,  without boss.     Good, solid, buffalo rawhide edging . NOT cheap dog chew!   Pad and straps with buckles on back.

Strap in 2 parts with buckle, add £ 10.00.

“Heater” shields,  12mm thick plywood, canvas faced with good, solid, buffalo rawhide edging . NOT cheap dog chew!   Pad and straps with buckles on back.  With these shields the canvas is on TOP of the rawhide edge and tacked down round the back to give an authentic appearance. The term “heater” is not medieval but was coined by Victorian historians in reference to the shape.

The “Dreadnought !”

Jousting shield type 1

These are 16mm thick plywood, no canvas covering or rawhide edge.  They have a flange running the length of the upper edge to act as a “lance deflector”.

Pad and adjustable straps on reverse.

Jousting shield type 2.   The “recurve”  shield.

For the 15th century jouster. These are designed to hang over the gap beneath the pauldron and are lance “catchers”. 16mm thick plywood, no canvas covering or rawhide edge. Straps on reverse for attaching to armour
